Web hostingFebruary 22nd, 2004

This week I’ll have to start a research on web hosting inside U.S. I have a freelance job that requieres a web host and I need more space for this weblog. Currently I’m on a Dutch host Flexwebhosting They have excellent service and uptime, but it’s 60 Euro’s (70 dollars) a year including domain. I only get 75MB space. The traffic is good, 5 GB a month and unlimited emails. I need at least 200MB for this weblog. I’m thinking on asking them to make a deal to give me more space for some extra money. Otherwise I’ll have to switch to an U.S. based host.

I already looked at some host but some are so cheap that it is like to good to be true and others are way to expensive. I am going to check one out that cost the same as the one I currently have but with more space and the same package(PHP, mySQL, htaccess, Perl/CGI) I’ll use it for my freelance job and if I don’t get more space from my current host I’ll switch to the U.S. host.

Webloggers should start to display which host they use. It would make it easier for me to just skim through them all and see which host I like.

And last a personal note. I finished my internship end January and today was the last carnival parade. This wednesday I’m flying back to Holland after 8 months on Aruba. Back to the cold winter and back to classes.
