Four bloggers I am tagging
They always say don’t judge a book by its cover. And we shouldn’t because if there isn’t one thing books miss are well designed cover that distinguish them from each other. Fortunately publishers are realizing that, there has been some nice covers lately.
The few times I can’t find books I want to read and just really want to read something but have no idea what, a cover comes in helpful. This counts for literature only, paperbacks can’t compete cover-wise.
Today I went by four bookstores looking for any book that looked interesting to read. At the last one I found The Hummingbird’s Daughter on the recommended table with a few other 30 books. I chose it because of its nice abstract cover and of course the ‘International Bestseller’ tag, although that doesn’t guarantee you’ll like the book. The picture shown is the International Edition, the US one isn’t bad but I like this one way much.
I’ve noticed also that international editions tend to have better covers then US editions, I wonder why. Although they do have different publishers for different editions.
Maybe I should start collecting books with nice covers. LP and CD covers or at least LP’s used to be a topic on themselves. No one will forget Nirvana’s baby swimming after a dollar bill. So hopefully publishers and writer will start investing more in their covers and make reading an extra pleasure.
