Broccoli and cheese pasta
August 3rd, 2007Since I gained back my appetite back in february I have been more into cooking than before. I’m not talking gourmet or high level cooking but regular meals that I love. I cook at least 5 days a week and most time I look online for ideas, recipes and variations to cook.
I tend to eat mostly vegetarian, chicken and once in a while I eat meat but I’m not a meat lover. I also eat tuna pretty much, only fish is left for me to fully understand and learn to cook. While there are a lot of food weblogs there is never to many way to learn how to prepare something. Everyone has their own taste and way to cook a meal. So I decided that I’ll post some of the food I cook and share it with everyone.

Last night I made broccoli, with 4 formaggi cheese with fresh pasta, which I topped off with fresh grounded season mixed pepper. There are various way to make this so I’ll explain how I do mine.
Normally I use tricolore fusilli but this time I decided to try fresh linguine pasta which they sell at my supermarket. It turned out that the fresh pasta tastes much better. They also sell fresh cheese sauce, four formaggi, with is a sauce with 4 different cheese. You can also use Alfredo sauce which I love but they don’t sell it in the Netherlands.
Boil the pasta as usual, fresh pasta only needs about 4 minutes while dried pasta 12 minutes. Steam or boil the broccoli they way you like them, I like them a bit soft but not too much. Then warm the sauce in the microwave or like instructed depending the product. Drain the pasta and broccoli, serve it on a plate or bowl, pour the cheese sauce over it and add freshly grounded season mixed pepper to taste and done.
You can use whatever cheese sauce you like, and when it’s the season I use asparagus instead of broccoli. Next time I ‘ll show how I make my own more simple cheese sauce.
