I decided to sell 3 of my 4 lenses of my Nikon D70. The Nikon D70 gets dust on the sensor very easily. So I decided that one all around lens will be much better unless I learn to clean the inside of the camera, which I won’t. Also I want a new lens to use and get motivated to start photographing again.
I put an add on a Dutch online marketplace but it’s not generating any interest. But I’m not willing to cut the prices as the lenses are in very good condition as I never used them much and I always store them away from cold, heat, dust, etc.
I’m thinking of checking out a camera store that sells secondhand camera equipment and see if they want to buy them from me.
The lenses I’m selling are:
- AF Nikkor 28mm 1:2.8 D
- AF-S Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 G ED (with B&W UV filter)
- Sigma 55-200mm 1:4-5.6mm DC
I’m keeping the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 because that’s just a perfect lens and the one I use 90% of the time. And I can’t miss the 1.8 aperture it’s great for taking photos in low light situations without flash.
If I manage to sell them I may buy the “Nikon DX VR 18-200 mm F3.5-5.6G Zoom” but if they don’t sell I won’t be too disappointed as they are all lenses I will use eventually. I have a few ideas for photo shoots, just need to get in gear and just do them. By now my Flickr pro account has expired, I’m to lazy to upgrade it again.
Photography really has been on the back burner….Note to self: need to start taking photos.
Today I came across a brand new Dutch magazine for web designers: “web designer” If there is one thing lacking in the Dutch ICT magazine genre is a magazine on web-design focused on the latest and most popular on that field.
In the UK they have .net which I have been looking for everywhere but can’t find. And I find it way to expensive to take a subscription without even having tried a few issues. So I was happy to see “web designer” in the stand for 5,95 euro.
The magazine focuses on CSS/XHTML, Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver. It has a few tutorials on each application extended with using different API’s(Flickr, Google Maps) and Javascript libraries. The Flash tutorial is more of an introduction to ActionScript 3.0
The magazines first interview is with the VIRB guys Brad Smith and Ryan Sims on building VIRB. The main article of this issue is “the future of web design” Which is interesting but it focus on one thing that bothers me, the web 2.0 term. Web 2.0 term can mean so many things, most people use it to refer to the post dot-com crash era. And now the magazine suggest we are entering 2.5 on the way to 3.0 I guess it would be better if a better term was used. Even Ryan Sims says in their interview: “…if you mean with web 2.0 that it’s easy to use or doesn’t look messy yes that was our intention…”.
Besides the too much use of the term web 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 the magazine has a good start at introducing readers to the latest methods in web design, especially web standards, javascript libraries, using API’s of different web services. Jeffrey Zeldmans “web designing with web standards” is mentioned on the top 6 hot stuff, I must say here that XHTMl/CSS, web standards books aren’t widely available or sold here. I got mine all from Amazon. There are a few pages dedicated to hot web designs made in flash or with XHTMl/CSS.
Something I haven’t come across yet, a complete guide of Dutch webhosting. When I first started my weblog I had a Dutch host but the prices where so ridiculous expensive that I moved host to the States. But it seems now that the prices are getting less expensive but now with the dollar so low they are still expensive in comparison. But at least the amount of Dutch webhosting companies is growing which will influence the price positively.
For a first issue I find it well done, but there is still room for improvement, more in-depth articles and tutorials. The CD-ROM accompanied with the magazine is not worth it. Except for the tutorials files it contains nothing note worthy, a few fonts, stock images, links and small applications. It would be better to put the tutorials online and never-mind including a CD-ROM of put more effort in what you put on it.
And now only if I could get a .net magazine for once…
